Irish Pie - SOLD 2002 4 yr old, 16 hand Irish Sport Horse mare ![]() Irish Pie is a WONDERFUL coming four yr old. A charmer with enormous personality, she has eye-catching looks and a certain 'something' that makes everyone love her on sight. Sweet, athletic and beautiful, with all the best qualities of the legendary Irish breed-sensibility, sensitivity, and a HUGE heart. Pie is a gem. ![]() Pie has had approximately 3 months of ground work and basic training under saddle. She is walk-trot-canter, just learning her leads, easy and totally uncomplicated to ride. We would describe her as 'green with good basics'. She has a GREAT engine-not the type of horse who needs to be pushed along. Pie has a flawlessly sweet temperament and can be handled by anyone, including children, even as green as she is. She bathes, loads, clips, ties, etc. She is as well behaved after a month in the pasture as she is if worked and handled everyday. Pie is cheerful and unfailingly even-tempered and willing both under saddle and in the barn. ![]() Pie is out of a 16.1 Irish Sport Horse dam, Sweet Elegance, who is by the imported 17 hand Irish Draught stallion 'The Irish Rover'. The Irish Rover was sired by Kildalton Gold, 1st place winner of the prestigious stallion class at Royal Dublin Horse Show in both 1988 and 1989. His dam was Knockavaher Pride, also 1st place winner of Mare division at Royal Dublin Show in both 1982 and 1983. . Pie's sire was Sonny Dee's Best, a Futurity Champion sire by Red Sonny Dee, himself a multi-time National Champion and World Champion in the AQHA and APHA divisions. Pie has nice movement, shows serious jumping talent, and has the athleticism to excel at any sport. In her first free-jumping session (pics shown here) we're amazed at her natural ability, form, and willingness: she goes to the fence with built-in cadence and balance, and jumps in fabulous form. ![]() Pie's trainability is unmatchable. She is tremendously well-suited for the junior or amateur to train and bring along themselves-and you may find yourself (or your kids) inviting her into the living room just for the pleasure of her company. A short video clip of Pie's first free-jumping session is available for download here.
