Kassidy - SOLD
4 yr old, 15.3+ dark bay TRAKEHNER gelding    KASSIDY is an extraordinary young Trakehner with brilliant movement, excellent conformation, and a pedigree of the finest. He is by the imported Elite Trakehner stallion Herzzauber out of the imported Trakehner mare Kassiana.
Kassidy moves with float, power, suspension and brilliance, but like his sister, Kestrel, he also loves to stretch out in soft, beautiful, hunter-style. His natural form over fences is gorgeous to watch - he has a beautiful, open, uphill canter stride and absolutely classic knees-to-chin form every time he comes down to a fence. Kassidy is a horse whose feet hardly touch the ground when he moves or jumps, and he's a serious candidate for the A-Circuit hunter/jumper ring or for the upper levels in dressage. But above all, he has the temperament to be trained and ridden to either by a junior or an amateur.
It is difficult to decribe Kassidy's character - to say 'excellent' is an understatement. Kassidy is an extraordinary combination of intelligent, sweet, calm, alert, trusting; he has a quality of heart that puts him into the 'great' category. Working with him is a joy. His trust of people is bone-deep. He accepts everything new without question and without fear. Kassidy has some great depth of kindness in his personality that makes him utterly trustworthy. From his very first ride under saddle we would have put the kids on him to cool him out, knowing he would take care of them. He is wonderful to handle, and extraordinary to train. And he has the princely looks to match his personality: he is pure elegance, refinement, and class.
 
Kassidy turned four in May. He was backed for the first time in early June, and is currently learning the absolute basics, working on a loose rein at trot,learning circles and changes of direction, and starting his canter under saddle. He is--once again, extraordinary is the only word to use--extraordinarily easy and uncomplicated to ride. He moves off the leg with natural rythym, stops on a dime on voice command (from trot OR canter), has a lovely, uphill engine, is bothered by nothing, never spooks, and is always willing. He is unfailingly good-tempered and cheerful. The pictures shown here of Kassidy under saddle were taken seven days after his first ride. The picture of him being cantered bareback in a halter and lead rope, ridden by 14 yr old Wylie Ahl, was taken one week later.
 
That said, it must be remembered that Kassidy is still a VERY GREEN, VERY YOUNG fellow who still has a lot of filling out and physical maturing left to do. Kassidy's exact stick height at the moment is 15.3 and one-half of an inch. We expect him to grow about another quarter of an inch and finish just a hair under 16 hands. 
What we wish for Kassidy is an owner - amateur, junior, or professional - who will adore him, spoil him, and take their time with him. A show-home is not a prerequisite, although we do believe that, with maturity and good training, Kassidy could compete with the best in the country on the hunter/jumper cicruit or in dressage.Kassidy is truly special. There is simply no one like him. |
