Decadence
Decadence is by the 17.2 hand Oldenburg Dynamotion (by the imported D-line Hannoverian and Oldenburg Verband stallion Dynamic) out of the 16 hand black Hanoverian x Thbd mare Autobahn (by Almaden).1996 black-bay, 16.1 hh, Hanoverian/Oldenburg ![]()
(This photo and the video clips available here were from October, 2005. They were Deca's first ride back to work on October 6th, after six months of maternity leave, straight out of the field with her 4 week-old filly, Just Before Dark. Rider is (was) 13 year old Wylie Ahl. (Now 18 yr old Wylie Ahl. heading off to college).) Decadence is an elegant and very powerfully built mare with three beautiful gaits and superb jumping form. Like her dam, Autobahn, Decadence is a naturally 'round' horse who goes easily on the bit or happily in hunter-style and works with natural rhythm and self-carriage. Along with her big, ground-covering gaits, she shows impeccable form over the bigger fences (over the little stuff she doesn't make much effort). She is enormously people-oriented; she trots to you at liberty for the pleasure of your company and will follow you anywhere without halter or lead. She is child-safe to handle and ride (although she could -and would- drag ten strong men to the nearest carrot), is excellent on trails alone or in company and, definitely has an 'amateur' temperament. She is fun to ride: forward, sane, un-spooky, and full of 'joie de vie'. ![]() Deca free-jumping 4' Deca came to us as a very well-started and well mannered five yr, old after receiving a kick from a pasture mate just below her right ear which cause atrophying of the masitter (chewing) muscles to that side of her jaw. The injury, which re-directed her from a career in the show ring and (luckily for us!!) brought her to our breeding program, proved with time to be of little concern. She continued with her under saddle training with us, working through First Level dressage and starting 2nd level, and jumping courses to 3' with the Pony Club students. When one of our adult amateur riders lost her own horse to permanent lameness, Deca went to live with her on her own farm for a year, being trail-ridden, coming back for weekly beginner dressage lessons, and teaching her rider the basics of jumping. Deca returned to the farm to deliver her first foal, and has not left since, accept to blow away the competition at her foals' inspections. Occasionally, the kids have hopped on her bareback, halter and leadrope (or nothing at all) and ridden her in the pastures on hot summer days, or when the snow is up around their ankles and it's a loong walk to the barn. Other than that, Deca has been in no steady work whatsoever. She's been a Mom. Deca's a wonderful broodmare, easy with her children, lovely to handle even when they are newborns. She thinks of people as a force of good in the world, and allows anyone, child or adult, in with her foals without worry. Deca is good about all the basic, clippers, baths, trailering (her adult amateur rider had a tiny two horse slant load and it was eye-opening to see Deca willingly step onto it sideways, head-down and holding her breath, to fit in next to her buddy). Although Deca is well broke, due to the fact that she has not been ridden in years, we are selling her 'as a broodmare', and her price reflects that. Deca is healthy, sound, has no vices, lives on pasture in summer and hay/grain in winter, and is used to living in a herd situation. Deca is being offered for sale, open for 2011, for $1500. She can also be sold bred to our Dutch stallion Juss For The Taste for $2500. Decadence's dam, Autobahn, was ranked 5th place for all AWS Mature Mares in ‘00, and Decadence’s half-siblings, Auspicious and Automatik, out of Autobahn, have been AWS Inspection Silver, Inspection Gold, and AWS Year-End National Gold and Bronze Medal winners, as well as USDF Regional Year End High Score Gold Medalist. Her youngest half-brother, Audacious, out of Autobahn, is standing at stud in Utah.
Short video clips of Decadence are available for download here.
